as the saying goes...

"A leap year is never a good sheep year".

I'm afraid this may be indicative of my year as a whole. Which is sad because it's only the 29th of February and I have quite a bit of year left.

Though I have had good sheep years in the past:

Can you have a good sheep year, sans the sheep, when you don't live in Jerusalem?
Is this post merely an excuse to post pictures of myself with animals? Perhaps.
The point is, I'm depressed.
No. The POINT IS I have a new baby nephew. Welcome, Andrew Daniel Fortner, you perfect little human! I can't wait to meet you. And I love love love being an auntie again.

Now someone give me a baby and a sheep and I'll be happy.
Okay?

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?

We all know I like to write about silly, beautiful little things that don't really matter that much, probably.
But here's something (or someone, rather) who matters a lot:

Beatrix Rose
who is now two days old
and the most beautiful thing.

not to mention
Daphne Marion
who is four and a half months

and
Lily Belle
who is almost three and so excited about her new baby sister.

 Am I a proud auntie?

Love, pink, and uh oh! She came early I need to get KNITTING,

It's a unicorn!

Ever since my sister found out we were prego (I like to add the "we" in there. I'm already very important in this baby's life) we've been discussing what kind of baby it will be.

You know, most people figure it will be either "a boy" or "a girl," but Jena and I explored other possibilities like.. "It's a lizard!" "It's a cupcake!" Eventually, we accepted the grown-ups' insistence that there are only two kinds of babies, and we settled on cowboys and unicorns.

Today she had her "kind of baby" appointment and found out
it's a unicorn!!
My other beautiful little unicorn filly of a neice, Lily Belle, is so excited it's a girl. Here's what she had to say about it:

I'm such a happy auntie banana!
I love you, jenabunny and baby!

love, babies, and plentiful new knitting projects now that I know what color yarn to get,
Anna

Printemps: "Pirates," puppies, and a party of a semester

I can't believe my freshman year of college is over.
But I can't wait to go home for the summer! And even though it snowed on Monday, I'm confident that the sunny, happy weather that can actually coax me out of bed in the morning is here to stay.

Exciting things that have happened recently:
  • Lily Belle Daines, my first and favorite niece
  • Hazel the chocolate lab joining the Bryce/Jenalee/ Anna family

  • "The Pirates of Penzance" at Center Street Musical Theatre, where Jena and I have been having a little too much fun being floozies. It's sooo nice to be on stage again.

  • After 12 or so hours of computer failure and false hope, I finally finished my final broadcast story, and am all set to apply to to the broadcast journalism major here at BYU!
Love, fake hair pieces, and dog hair,
Anna

Carry

I want to carry you
and for you to carry me
the way voices are said to carry over water.

Just this morning on the shore,
I could hear two people talking quietly
in a rowboat on the far side of the lake.

They were talking about fishing,
then one changed the subject,
and, I swear, they began talking about you.

Billy Collins

that's all, folks
